Plumbing Leak Repair Contractors

Big Enough To Get The Job Done, Small Enough To Care

Leak Detection Service

It can be tough to pinpoint a plumbing leak in your home, but the damage caused by a leaking drain pipe in wall can be as bad as a burst pipe if not dealt with quickly. As soon as you suspect a leak, turn off the water supply, either at the source or the main city water supply.

Without tearing down walls or ripping up floors, we can usually avoid major damage and find the source of a pipe leak by following the sound it makes. If we are faced with a slab leak that is a little more complicated.

No matter what the issue is, our pipe leak detection experts will decide what needs to be fixed before beginning any work, so you'll know exactly which leak solution is best for your home's plumbing system.

Your home relies on clean water, as long as it is safely contained in a pipe, sink, tub, or an appliance like a dishwasher. But water can fast become the enemy if it goes where it shouldn’t, causing potential damage to floors, or furnishings. When that happens it's best to call plumbing leak repair contractors to get things fixed quickly and up to code.

Plumbing leaks are pretty common unfortunately, even in newer houses, and it’s likely that every house will suffer from at least one and require copper plumbing leak repair. What’s more, not every type of leak is obvious; in fact, they can be insidiously hidden, making it crucial to catch and repair a leak as soon as possible. Water stains are usually a dead giveaway.

What to Look For

Monthly water bills are fairly predictable, so if you receive one that’s unusually high and you haven’t been using excess water, you may have a leak. The Environmental Protection Agency suggests that a family of four will typically use no more than 12,000 gallons per month, except perhaps during the summer if you water a garden or lawn. Even a slow leak, such as a leaky faucet with a steady drip, can waste as much as 10,000 gallons of water per year, so keeping an eye on your water meter is a smart thing to do.

Look at Appliances and Fixtures

Check cabinets under the kitchen, laundry, and bathroom sinks to make sure they’re dry. You’ll also want to look for puddles around the bases of tubs, toilets, and showers and water stains under the water heater, dishwasher, and clothes washer. If you find any puddles or toilet leaks, turn off the water supply valve to that appliance or fixture and call one of our expert plumbers. We will dispatch a licensed plumber right away and a professional plumber will be there as soon as possible.

Dealing With Tub Drain Leaks

If you can see the underside of the drain through an access panel or open ceiling, partially fill the tub and then release the water. In a shower, plug the drain with a rag and then release the water. Check the drains and traps for leaks from below through the access panel.

If you don’t have access to the underside of the drain, plug the drain and add enough water to form a small puddle around the drain. Mark the edge of the puddle by setting a bottle of shampoo next to it. Then wait an hour. If the puddle shrinks, the drain is leaking. Don’t rely on your tub stopper for this test; it may leak. Remove the stopper and insert a 1-1/2-in. test plug (find them at home centers). Remove the grate and use a 2-in. plug for a shower.

DIY Plumbing Shower Leak Repair

If you have access to a shower drain from below, tighten the ring nut that locks the drain to the shower pan. If that doesn’t work, replace the drain assembly. If you don’t have access beneath the drain, cut a hole in the ceiling below or replace the drain assembly.

A Few Things You Should Know About Plumbing Leaks

DIY Network experts share 10 things you must know about a plumbing issue. You don't need to know everything about plumbing pipe leak repair, but it's important to understand the most common types of water leaks.

  1. Wrap your pipes. The important feature is the exterior piping. If the cold-water pipes touch the exterior portion of the building, when the water isn't being used and the temperature is very cold, most likely the pipes will freeze. The only time water won't freeze is when it's moving, so it's is a good idea to leave all the faucets open while you're away from home for any length of time. The best thing you can do, however, is insulate the whole space to avoid the cost of plumbing water leak repair.
  2. You may not know what's right, but you can usually spot what's wrong. Take a quick look at any visible pipes in your house, just to keep up on what's going on with them. Homeowners often don't routinely check; then a puddle of water appears in the basement, damaging their valuables, and they had no inkling that anything was amiss. You can look at the pipes in your basement and have no idea what you're looking at, but if you see rust, water stains, or drops of water, you'll know something's wrong. It's always a good idea to hire a plumbing joint leak repair professional to take care of things, for your own peace of mind.
  3. A stuffed sink can spring water leaks. Under your kitchen sink, just take a peek every once in a while and see if there are any drips. If so, plumbing drain leak repair will be the right solution.
